Oats are naturally gluten free and have a great amount of
fiber which binds to cholesterol and helps remove it out of the body. Oats also
contain selenium, magnesium and zinc and are beneficial for digestion and
boosting your immune system. When
choosing oats, make sure they have no added sugar, flavourings or
preservatives. We will be sweetening our oatmeal with natural sweeteners such
as fruits and honey.
Let’s get started!
Ingredients:
- 1/3 steel cut oats
- 3 cups water
- 2 tsp ground flax seeds
- 1/2 frozen banana
- ¼ sliced apples
- 5 chopped dried apricots or peaches
- ¼ cup shredded coconut
- 1 tbsp coconut oil
- Pinch of cloves
- ½ tsp cinnamon
- 1 scoop of protein powder (optional)
- 1 tsp honey
- 5 toasted sliced almonds
- Cacao nibs
Instructions:
- Bring water to boil.
- Add all the ingredients except honey, almonds and cacao
nibs.
- Stir and cook on low heat until oats are soft. Add more
water if needed.
- Transfer into a serving bowl, pour the honey and sprinkle
with almonds and cacao nibs.
